Re-thinking sports marketing now that fans are in charge

We're soon to be launching FundSport.com, a new blog site focussed exclusively on the development on grassroots sport across the globe.

We are currently looking for contributors to write posts for the blog. We are looking to help clubs with articles about all aspects of running a sports club including sponsorship, funding, PR, marketing, social media, club management and community relations.

We'd also like to hear from any clubs with case studies about any innovative or creative fundrasing events, sponsorships, PR & marketing campaigns and successful uses of social media.

Fund Sport will provide all contributors with a link to their website on all articles they write as well as a brief description about themselves and their organisation.

This is a truly worthy cause and a great way to showcase your skills to the grassroots sports community.

If you would be interested in writing a blog entry on any of the subjects mentioned above (sponsorship, PR etc.), please let me know.

Thanks,
Ashley Read.

Ashley,

2 quick questions for you about FundSport.com...
- are you going to cover anything in the sports non-profit/CSR space?
- will you have an RSS feed of your content available?

Thanks,
Howard

Hi Howard,

Thanks for the reply.

We will look to cover sports non-profit/CSR. If you have any suggested articles/blog posts please let me know.

We will have an RSS feed available.

Nice find on the "Baseball Promos Go Way Out Of The Box" article, some really cool ideas in there.

Thanks,
Ash.

Ashley,

I'm working on a sports non-profit site, and we'll be aggregating content from a variety of sources. I definitely want to include your feeds on sports non-profit programs and projects in our news section.

Please keep me in the loop as you get things rolling...

Cheers,
Howard

Wow! Big chance on this venture. I love the concept.

I am not sure of a response on contributions that you may get. Most people that offer this help have their own personal financial ties. As one that is involved with non-for-profit administration, it is hard to find anyone that has advice to give without paying consulting fees. I love the concept though.

I have helped clubs of many sports get started, but resources are not free. I always offer advice and options to my clients based on my own experience. I feel like that is part of my marketing services.

When is the launch? I am intrigued.

Thanks for the reply Jay.

We've had a great response to the site so far, we started looking for contributors around a week ago and we already have quite a few people interested in cortibuting to the site with around half of them commited and writing blog entries as we speak.

We aim to launch in early Decemeber, we are speaking at a grassroots sponsorship conference in mid December so we see that as a great place to kick start the site.

I'll keep you up-to-date with how things are going and let you know when we lauch, if you want to chat about anything you can get me on ash@fundsport.com or Skype ash.read14.

Thanks.

Ashley:

Let me know how we can help....we have been in business now for over 7 years and our business mission is staging successful sport non-profit fund raising at a low cost...we guarantee the cost is just 20% or less of the gross to the charity. We specialize in Portable Golf services and recently launched a new brand capitalizing on the popularity of the PGA Tour and Fantasy Sports,,,,a VIRTUAL Golf Tournament service that has now grown around the country to include 16 SALES PARTNERS!

I feel this new service is something that your readership could be very interested in learning about plus we are looking to grow so if there are people out there looking to pick up some additional revenue to add to their sports book of revenue business or would like to break into sports marketing, we need "hometown" champion partners of this service!

Possibly we can partner on a few projects? Where are you located?

Hi Bob,

We are located in the East of England. I'd love to hear your ideas on possible partnerships and also anything you could contribute to FundSport.

Give me an email on ash@fundsport.com and we can discuss things from there.

Thanks!
Ash.

I'll definitely have some items to contribute Ashley. I work a fair bit in this space and am working with a couple of clubs right now. We have a few products in development as well, so longer term can provide some case studies. My company is pretty focused in the elite amateur and youth sport space, so it would be terrific to stay connected to Fund Sport. We are just a little sidetracked by the Olympics coming through town in a few months, but will be full-stream back to business as usual once that has passed.

Call me an uber-optimist, but i think you'll do well with the site......cheers-
Aileen
