In case you missed it, yesterday TruMedia Networks launched TruFan, a social media platform for local sports fan communities. The platform will power fan communities in 122 markets and you can check out SawxHeads or CeltsHeads for sample communities that live on the TruFan platform. The platform includes standard community features such as profiles, blogs, pictures, [...]

How the AVP Could Leverage Social Media

I apologize for the lack of updates recently - I took on a new job a few weeks ago as social media manager for eWayDirect, which offers multiple marketing services  on a single platform built around a robust reporting structure. The job is definitely a challenge as I’ll be helping them 1) build their [...]

10 Reasons Why Sports Organizations Should Use Twitter

If social media is the tools, opportunities and conversations that enable mass two-way or multi-way communication and information sharing, then Twitter is the #1 tool right now that allows for direct, real-time interaction between people. Twitter is a very powerful connector and enabler. It enables JoeSportsFan in Philly to connect with JimSportsFan in New York [...]

My Notes from the 2009 CSRI Conference

On Thursday and Friday last week I had a great opportunity to attend the 2009 College Sport Research Institute (CSRI) Conference in Chapel Hill. The conference brought together some of the brightest sports minds, students and faculty to discuss issues facing college sports. I really enjoyed meeting Jeremy Bloom and hearing about his ordeals with [...]

Keep Sponsors Happy with SponsorshipPRO+ Presentation Software

The Challenge: Teams and properties often include a lot of different assets in packages for sponsors. Signage, radio and TV spots, other media, experiences, tickets and more and the impressions, ratings and other metrics can be difficult to keep track of. When sponsors ask for results at the end of a season or after an event, [...]

It's great that the WPS is trying to do something new and exciting like this to engage fans. I also wrote about this last week on my blog. Even if the sideline tweeting doesn't last, at least they're willing to try something new and make mistakes ...
Great info, thanks for sharing! My brackets are all busted up, but I still have my team (UNC Tar Heels) winning it all!

Top 50 Sports Social Networks

I just posted a list of top 50 sports social networks based on valuations by dnScoop. Besides this one and the obvious sites that are missing because they don't have their own unique domain name, were you surprised about any others not being on the list?

Here's the link to my post - top 50 sports social networks

Facebook Apps can bring games back to life

Remember Oregon Trail? In the original game you had to buy a wagon, oxen and some supplies and travel from the Mississippi to the Pacific Ocean--hunting, fording rivers, and surviving sickness along the way. It was a fun game...but a lot of people forgot about it once games went 3D.

Thanks to Facebook, Oregon Trail has been resurrected in the form of a FB app. There are currently over 111,700 active daily users, and I must confess that I have been one of them the last few days. The game… Continue

Hi Jason,
How's it going?
Just checking in to let you know our website has totally changed.
eVideo campaigns are changing the way people are promoting events and selling tickets.
In this economy, teams are looking for measurable ways to help sell tickets.
The Flimp platform does that.
Please visit us at: www.flimp.net
Thanks,
Terry

Jason,
We've been writing a blog on sports and technology, Pulse Jam, www.pulsejam.com. Would love to see if we can get it listed on your new Sports Biz site. Additionally, would like to chat about a sports intelligence platform we're rolling out later this year. Please let me email me a philz@pulsemediagroup.com

Thanks,
Phil

Jason,

I checked out your website and you have some great thoughts about different aspects of sports marketing. I want to ask what you think about using video advertising on the web? For sports, I think it can be a really big way to advertise in the future. At Flimp, were working with all different types of companies, but I'm involved with the sports world. Thoughts on the ideas?

Sports fans like to play games with eachother, online and off

When we were designing MyColts.net we were heavily influenced by Computer Game Theory. We think the overall community experience can and should be one big game fans play together… Just this piece in Forbes written by Peter Daboll, CEO of Bunchball. He does a better job than I explaining game mechanics. I think this is an [...]
